yes but same cameras sens how much "light" is coming into the chip and if you block the "useless" parts of the lightspecktrum the camera may be more sensitife to the infrared. of course in absence of all visible light it doesnt help anything

@quantumbits the black film is to block the visible light about 400-700nM passing the near infrared below 700nM to the point where the CCD or CMOS chips QE falls about 1180nM or 1.18uM

The piece of developed film negative on the sensor is not needed unless you want to video IR during the day. Basically, if you are videoing at night, there is no need to block visible light. You will get better results without it. The whole idea is to let in as much light as possible no matter the source.

I understand removing the IR filter from between the CCD and lens. That makes the CCD sensitive to IR.. But I don't understand inserting the black film material.

light filters I can understand , however light detection or ilumination can you explain that , you placed it between the circuut board and lens , is this a piece of exposed film roll, ?
